I'm still on The Windows Phone app you kindly linked works fine, but I'm disappointed to see that it only handles media photos, music etc - I thought it was going to sync contacts as well and possibly text messages. Or even let me write texts on my macbook and use the phone to send them.

I appreciate the need to focus on delivery of some important things like Windows Mobile 10 for Windows Phones. If not, why not? Will there be a replacement of some kind? I have a lumia and have just upgraded my 24" iMac to El Capitan today hence my concerns.

So until something happens to resurrect Windows Phone App, can you please enlighten me as to a What Software I need to buy and b how to use it to achieve the same outcomes. If you have an iPod or iPhone then syncing is NOT a problem, Apple via iTunes have not released or intend to release any app that allows you to use any device other than Apple. And there I was thinking that Applications for Apple and other operating systems were designed and built by the Application vendors Applications are developed by Third Party suppliers, for example Banking applications, and then implemented on various operating systems as the vendors see fit.
For the Windows Phone application it is Microsoft who will develop and implement the product not Apple.

Thus in my simple world it is up to Microsoft to decide whether to develop for El Capitan. There is also nothing to stop another developer producing an application that will allow synchronisation between Windows phones and El Capitan but I would suggest that this will not be completed until Windows 10 is released as an upgrade for Windows 8 phones.
